Bodybuilding at Redfield T&F isn’t like our other classes: there’s no cardio component and no WOD at the end — the goal is pure strength and hypertrophy work, split by muscle group. Here’s how it works.
What GAP and Upper mean
GAP stands for glutes, abs and legs (from the Spanish glúteos, abdominales y piernas): a session focused on the lower body and core. Upper is the upper-body session: chest, back, shoulders and arms. They’re two separate sessions on the weekly timetable, not the same class under different names.
Why train by muscle group
- More volume per muscle group in each session, which is key for hypertrophy.
- Better recovery: by splitting lower and upper body across different days, each muscle group gets more rest between sessions.
- It complements CrossTraining: if you already do WODs, bodybuilding adds the strength volume that a daily metcon doesn’t always cover.
Bodybuilding doesn’t compete with CrossTraining: it complements it, adding the strength volume that a WOD on its own doesn’t always give you.
What a bodybuilding session at Redfield T&F is like
No cardio: the focus is on controlled sets, good technique and progressive loading on classic strength exercises, combined with variations using dumbbells, bands and the machines in the box. Ideal if you want to build muscle in a structured way while still training in a group with a coach.
If you’d like to add bodybuilding to your training week, book your free class and ask the coach about the GAP and Upper timetable.
