What to bring to your first functional training class?
Have you signed up for a free class at Redfield T&F and don’t know what to bring? Don’t worry, your first high-intensity training session will be an exciting experience, and here we’ll tell you the essentials to make the most of it. Our workouts are designed for all levels, so the most important thing is to come with a positive attitude and the desire to improve yourself.
1. Comfortable and breathable clothing
You don’t need technical equipment or clothing from specific brands. As long as you wear sportswear that allows you to move freely, you’re all set. Ideally, choose breathable fabrics that help wick away sweat during functional exercises like squats, jumps, burpees, or kettlebell workouts. Dressing comfortably allows you to focus on the effort, not on your clothes.
2. Sneakers with a good foundation
Ideally, you should wear sneakers with flat or stable soles, especially if you’re working on strength or pushing and pulling movements. Avoid shoes with a lot of cushioning, such as typical running shoes, as they can reduce stability during exercises like cleans, lunges, or sled exercises. Versatile footwear will be your best ally in our functional sessions inspired by hybrid competitions.
3. Water and a towel
You’re going to sweat, and that’s a sign you’re working hard. Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated before, during, and after your workout. And a small towel will be useful for drying off between rounds. Our training room is equipped, but these two essentials shouldn’t be missing.
4. Desire and an open mind
The most important thing you can bring is your attitude. At Redfield T&F, we train hard, but always as a community. Come eager to learn, improve, and be part of a team. Our coaches will guide you through every move, help you improve your technique, and adapt the exercises to your level. Whether you’re looking for an alternative to a traditional gym, preparing for challenges like hybrid runs, or improving your overall fitness, this is your first stop. We look forward to seeing you!
